A CLIMACTIC TURNING POINT IN FIRST NATION HISTORY | 2023

Collaborating with Country has never been more relevant and crucial to design. Co-designing with Country involves a process of learning and unlearning, and redefining outdated ways of thinking. First Nation perspectives can invite people to engage with Country and place on a multi-dimensional level.

I’ve currently got about ten projects on the go and frankly feel like I’ve spent the last twenty years getting ready for this moment. It’s empowering and it’s worthy of celebration. It feels like we are on the precipice of a turning point in history that is well overdue. I spoke with Helena Morgan from the Australian Design Review about how First Nations artists, designers and architects are finally sitting at the table and becoming key players in the design movement.
