In October 2023 I had the pleasure of speaking at Sydney’s first South by South West (SXSW) Festival on how my experience and insights with cultural knowledge have enabled me to look at the future of contemporary design and its link to First Nations people and places.

I believe that while contemporary themes are paving the way forward when it comes to design, it is actually the ancient systems and knowledge that influence the creativity behind these modern ideas. Everything starts and ends with Country. Country includes the built environment and objects, which reflect both a conceptual and a physical process with ancestral and cultural dimensions. We speak about Country like it is a family member. We have dialogue to Country on an everyday basis.
